Celebrating 118 Years of United States Submarine Heritage.
The Pacific Submarine Force came to Hawaii in 1914 when four F-class boats were towed from San Francisco to Honolulu. From these humble beginnings, Pearl Harbor has since grown to be the largest submarine base in the U.S. Fleet, hosting 12 Los Angeles Class and 6 Virginia Class submarines.
The active submarine presence in Pearl Harbor combined with headquarters for Commander, Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet and two Submarine Squadrons has created a community rich in history and strong in spirit. As a result, the Pearl Harbor Submarine Birthday Ball is always a fun and memorable evening.
2019 marks 100 years of the U.S. Submarine Force at Subbase Pearl Harbor, and the 119th anniversary of the US Submarine Force established April 11, 1900 with the purchase of USS Holland (SS-1).
